A key foundation to Anchor QEA’s national reputation is our expertise in geotechnical engineering applied to the waterfront environment. Anchor QEA has a team of renowned geotechnical engineers to support our waterfront services across the country.

We conduct geotechnical field exploration programs and provide engineering support to waterfront facilities and structures, including piers, wharves, and adjacent upland structures. We have successfully designed pier foundations in soft marine sediments, designed and installed caps on very low strength contaminated sediments, and ensured that remedial measures did not impact nearby slopes and structures.

Highlights of our geotechnical services include:

  • Waterfront and upland structures and development (pier foundations, bulkheads, pavements, and intermodal yards)
  • Waterfront and offshore earthen structures (confined disposal facility and in situ cap design, slope stabilization)
  • Seismic assessment and mitigation (seismic deformation, slope stability, and liquefaction analysis)
  • Sediment remediation design (dredging and in situ capping)
